qualificationsandA-levelGeneralStudies.Mysincerestdesireisto
becomeacomputerscientist.Specifically,Iaminterestedin
exploringhowproblemscanbemodeledandsolvedusingartificial
intelligence.Ialsowanttolearnabouthumancognitionandmachine
intelligence.Ihavebeenstudyingtheonlinedebateoverwhether
machineswilleverbecome"intelligent"giventhecurrentcourse
ofresearchandreadingaboutsuchissuesaswhetheramachinecan
acquire"commonsense"(asdiscussedinHubertDreyfus'sbook
"WhatComputersStillCan'tDo").Ihavebeenexploringmanydifferent
areaswithinthedomainofartificialintelligence(suchasneural
networks,geneticalgorithms,andnaturallanguageprocessing).The
bottomlineisthatIwanttobeapartofthisexcitingfield.Overthe
summerItraveledtoRussia,andthoroughlyenjoyedexploringavery
differentpartoftheworld.Myotherinterestsincludecurrentaffairs
andsports,suchasfootball,tennisandgeneralfitness.Eversincethe
startofsixthformIhavebeenasuccessfulmemberofthecollege
footballteam.Ihaveplayedbasketballasanenrichment
activitybecauseitwasanewsporttomeatthebeginningof
sixthform.Ialsoparticipatedina5-a-sideindoorfootball
tournamentatthecollege.Inadditiontopursuingmyacademicstudies
Iwouldliketocontinuesomeofthesesportsatuniversity.
