The 30th day of the twelfth month of the Chinese lunar calendar is a traditional Chinese holiday called "New Year's Eve". On this day, families are putting up couplets, hanging lanterns, eating dumplings and setting off firecrackers.

On the eve of new year's Eve, I woke up with joy, changed into new clothes, ran around the house excitedly, and helped my mother clean the table for a while, then I put up a couplet for my dad, and I put candy in my mouth for a while. The time passed quickly, unwittingly arrived at the evening, our family was reunited to eat a year's dinner. The food is really good! There are braised fish and stewed spareribs. There are my favorite, I have wings, greedy slobber. I will eat, wait to close to mom and dad want to hurry up and get the pay New Year's call, the long-awaited gift money.

Eight, the annual feast - the Spring Festival Gala begins. This year's program is wonderful! Zhao Benshan's short story "not bad money" made us laugh. Louis Liu's magic is wonderful. The action of dancing in the forest dance is vivid, and there are many other programs that have left an unforgettable impression on me.

More than eleven points, grandma took out a good dough, ready to make dumplings, and I joined the ranks. Don't see how I don't get down to the kitchen at ordinary times. The dumplings wrapped up are in a mold, and both grandma and mother boast that I can do it. The steaming dumplings are brought to the end, and we eat dumplings with relish and relish while watching TV. Hey, how something hard against me, but I'll wake up, I ate the dumplings in the coin bag! I was proud to show off to everyone: I have money! I'm rich!

"Grandma come to bell!" Bell, I could not help but follow up: ten, nine,...... Three, two, one, twelve! " The sound of deafening firecrackers was sounded out of the window. I excitedly went to the balcony to see the beautiful fireworks, make the sky look like some stars, a riot of colours, like some willows, and some like dancing snake...... It looks great!

I had a good time on the eve of this new year's Eve, and I grew up one year old again!

Will Christmas Replace the Spring Festival?

Christmas arouses increasing attention year by year in China. Christmas cards become popular with students. People hold Christmas parties and exchange Christmas girts. A lot or TV and radio programs about Christmas are on. Meanwhile the Spring Festival is less appealing (有吸引力的)to youngsters. Thus some people wonder whether Christmas will replace the Spring Festival.

This worry is fairly unnecessary. Why ? One reason lies that Christmas only affects Christians, college students and joint-venture (合資企業(yè))workers. Another reason is that Christmas is mostly celebrated in cities. Few people in countryside show extreme interest in this exotic(帶有異國情調(diào)的.) festival. By contrast, the Spring Festival is the most influential traditional festival in every family.

I think,it is natural that with increasing exchanges with the West,a lot of Western holidays have been gradually introduced into China. For us Chinese we should never neglect or even discard our own traditional festivals. For centuries Chinese have observed this traditional holiday to welcome the beginning of a new year. And we will treasure the Spring Festival forever.

春節(jié)的英語作文 篇4

The Spring Festival in my hometown is very lively! It's fun!

On the 28th day of the twelfth lunar month, every household was swept away. For me, it's the bitterest! Because I'm the grandson of my family, it's my job to clean the whole room. I don't need to carry a lift. But washing the dishes, cleaning the Windows, sweeping the floor, mopping the floor, wiping the table and chairs are all I did, and my sisters are still young, and I can't help it! But, looking at my clean house, I'm a little proud too! That's for the New Year!

From the beginning of the second year, each family held a banquet and invited friends and relatives to come together. At that time, our children were happiest. Not only did adults send us New Year's gifts, but let's just say: "congratulations! Happy New Year! A steady stream of money is coming to us, not to mention the joy! There were some drunken men who said, "come again! Come again!" We don't forget to pour them a glass of wine and say, "happy New Year!" They sent a dreamy letter to him, and when we were done, we said, "thank you!" Ha ha! Another one! And fireworks. In the starry sky, there were occasional bursts of fireworks. Fireworks explode, colors, red, yellow, green, beautiful fireworks, add a trace of vitality to such a lively atmosphere

Up to the beginning of the year, people began to work. The joy of the New Year began to come to an end.

But for me: the Spring Festival in my hometown is very lively! It's fun!

春節(jié)的英語作文 篇5

The Origin of Chinese New Year

The Chinese New Year is now popularly known as the Spring Festival because it starts from the Begining of Spring (the first of the twenty-four terms in coordination with the changes of Nature). Its origin is too old to be traced. Several explanations are hanging around. All agree, however, that the word Nian, which in modern Chinese solely means "year", was originally the name of a monster beast that started to prey on people the night before the beginning of a new year.

One legend goes that the beast Nian had a very big mouth that would swallow a great many people with one bite. People were very scared. One day, an old man came to their rescue, offering to subdue Nian. To Nian he said, "I hear say that you are very capable, but can you swallow the other beasts of prey on earth instead of people who are by no means of your worthy opponents?" So, it did swallow many of the beasts of prey on earth that also harassed people and their domestic animals from time to time.

After that, the old man disappeared riding the beast Nian. He turned out to be an immortal god. Now that Nian is gone and other beasts of prey are also scared into forests, people begin to enjoy their peaceful life. Before the old man left, he had told people to put up red paper decorations on their windows and doors at each year’s end to scare away Nian in case it sneaked back again, because red is the color the beast feared the most.

From then on, the tradition of observing the conquest of Nian is carried on from generation to generation. The term "Guo Nian", which may mean "Survive the Nian" becomes today "Celebrate the (New) Year" as the word "guo" in Chinese having both the meaning of "pass-over" and "observe". The custom of putting up red paper and firing fire-crackers to scare away Nian should it have a chance to run loose is still around. However, people today have long forgotten why they are doing all this, except that they feel the color and the sound add to the excitement of the celebratio
