The English-Chinese/Chinese-English Dictionary is really a good one for beginners. It has 18,000 English words and 20,000 Chinese words. Besides plenty of examples, it has many notes telling you bow to use a word. Xinhua dictionary is the most popular Chinese dictionary , and it has a vocabulary of 10,000 words. It may also be useful to some advanced learners of Chinese. Of the two, ECCED is the more expensive, costing 52 yuan, and XD costs 11 yuan.

Today I read an instructive speech, in which the speaker argues that honesty is the best policy by telling us a true story about an overseas Chinese student who couldn’t find a job because of his dishonest records.
I can’t agree with the speaker more. Honesty means all the difference between success and failure.
Honesty will eventually bring people benefits while dishonesty may bring people short -term benefits but will surely bring disasters to them in the long run.
Take Mr. Mao, headmaster of ××× national model high school, for example. In face of fierce competition, some teachers neglected their students cheating in examinations and worse still some even cheated themselves to please school leaders. Mr Mao strongly opposed this phenomenon. As a result, his honesty led to his great success as a chemistry teacher and he was promoted as headmaster three years ago. Another opposite example is Sanlu milk powder company. In order to make more money, they added a toxic chemical-melamine to the milk powder they produced, which made it appear to have more protein than was actually the case. The company made a lot of money by such dishonest means. But when the scandal was disclosed, not only did the company have to close down, but also some officials concerned were sent to prison.
Honesty is important in our study and future career .Therefore, we should always remember honesty is the best policy and promise to be honest all our life.

On the other hand, some people try to get money by dishonest means, for example, they often cheat and gemble, even rob and kill people. Sooner or later, they will be punished by the law. On 5th, December, 20xx, the South Africa’s former President and the Nobel winner Nelson R. Mandela had passed away. Suddenly, the whole world was in deep mourning for this great man. In his extraordinary life, he had made marvelous contribution to his country, also to this world.

Born in a small village in South Africa, Mandela was one of the 13 children of a tribe chief. Unlike his father, he didn’t want to use his social status to oppress his people. Deep in his heart, he wanted to start the national liberation movement, and help the black people to live freely. In 1944, Mandela was actively involved in different kinds of campaign, aimed to fight for the rights for the majority blacks without violence resistance in the country. In 1961, he became the anti-apartheid leader, and won the honor of all the black people. However, Mandela was arrested for treason but later was acquitted. In 1962, the South Africa government was arrest him for the same excuse and he started his prison life for 27 years. But the hard life in prison never changed his faith that he would build an equal, free new Africa. He is such a great fighter that he finally released from prison. He believed that the world would become peace and equal. There is no racial discrimination.
