Far and away the most important holiday in China is Spring Festival, also known as the Chinese New Year. To the Chinese people it is as important as Christmas to people in the West. The dates for this annual celebration are determined by the lunar calendar rather than the GREgorian calendar.
so the timing of the holiday varies from late January to early February. To the ordinary Chinese, the festival actually begins on the eve of the lunar New Year's Day and ends on the fifth day of the first month of the lunar calendar. But the 15th of the first month, which normally is called the Lantern Festival, means the official end of the Spring Festival in many parts of the country.

今天是一年一度的除夕夜，這一天全國人民都要放煙花，吃年夜飯和看春節(jié)聯(lián)歡晚會。到了傍晚六點所有的工廠、超市都要關(guān)門。
Today is the annual New Year's Eve. On this day, people all over the country have to put out fireworks, eat the annual dinner and watch the Spring Festival Gala. All the factories and supermarkets are closed at six in the evening.
這天晚上爸爸的媽媽都要回家吃年夜飯。一到春節(jié)各家各戶都會做許多香噴噴的`飯菜，一家人圍坐在桌子前開懷暢飲、談笑風聲。吃完年夜飯我拉著爸爸和媽媽來到小區(qū)中心廣場。
This evening, my father's mother is going home for the dinner. One to the Spring Festival families will do a lot of delicious food, drink, one family sat in front of the table laughing. After dinner, I pulled my father and mother to the center square of the district.
走到中心廣場一看，那里已經(jīng)有許多人在放煙花了。大人們臉上洋溢著幸福的笑容，小朋友們圍著煙花又蹦又跳，又叫又鬧，別提多高興了！
