英語(yǔ)作文 篇1

On July 19, 20xx, I received an invitation from the city of Danbury inviting me to visit America. I knew that I would be part of a delegation(代表團(tuán)) of 13 people who were to visit the United States in August for 12 days.

On August 22, I flew on a Northwest Airlines flight from Shanghai Pudong International Airport. We flew across the Pacific Ocean and arrived in Detroit at 10:30 in the morning, local time. Then we changed the plane and went to New York City. When we arrived there, the boss of Global Services International Company asked Luo Qianjing to pick us up. Then the cars took us to our hotel, which was for overseas Chinese students.

During my trip, I visited many famous cities in the USA, such as New York, Washington D.C., Los Angeles and other interesting places. I visited the Statue of Liberty, United Nations, Wall Street and World Trade Center, which was destroyed one year ago. I also saw the NYSE (New York Stock Exchange). In Washington D.C., I went to the Thomas Jefferson Memorial, the Lincoln Memorial, Library of Congress, the White House and the Pentagon(五角大樓). In Los Angeles, I visited Universal Studios and Disneyland. On September 1, we went to the 50th state of the USA, Hawaii. That is a beautiful place with blue sea and sky. I love it. I also went to the USS Arizona Memorial in Pearl Harbor, Honolulu.

Thats my trip to the USA. Its wonderful. I will remember it forever.

英語(yǔ)作文 篇2

regardless of the level of formality.

as such, these words and expressions are well defined and listed in standard dictionaries.

colloquialisms, on the other hand, are familiar words and idioms that are understood by almost all speakers of a language and used in informal speech or writing, but not considered appropriate for more formal situations.

almost all idiomatic expressions are colloquial language.

slang, however, refers to words and expressions understood by a large number of speakers but not accepted as good, formal usage by the majority.

colloquial expressions and even slang may be found in standard dictionaries but will be so identified.

both colloquial usage and slang are more common in speech than in writing.

colloquial speech often passes into standard speech.

some slang also passes into standard speech, but other slang expressions enjoy momentary popularity followed by obscurity.

in some cases, the majority never accepts certain slang phrases but nevertheless retains them in their collective memories.

every generation seems to require its own set of words to desCRIbe familiar objects and events.

it has been pointed out by a number of linguists that three cultural conditions are necessary for the creation of a large body of slang expressions.

first, the introduction and acceptance of new objects and situations in the society; second, a diverse population with a large number of subgroups; third, association among the subgroups and the majority population.

finally, it is worth noting that the terms "standard" "colloquial" and "slang" exist only as abstract labels for scholars who study language.

only a tiny number of the speakers of any language will be aware that they are using colloquial or slang expressions.

most speakers of english will, during appropriate situations, select and use all three types of expressions.

  文化條件:第一,對(duì)社會(huì)中新事物的.引入和接受;第二,一個(gè)由大量子群構(gòu)成的多樣化人口;

  Dear Sir or Madam,

I’m writing to you to state my view on the water pollution problem. It is generally accepted that water pollution is a serious public hazard today. Rivers all over the world are becoming polluted with garbage and dangerous chemicals. Ships contribute to the problem because they rely on rivers for disposing of wastes. Oil and other chemicals can kill fish and make water unsafe for drinking. Because they rely on rivers for disposing of wastes. Oil and other chemicals can kill fish and make water unsafe for drinking. In a word, polluted water is a big problem to everyone.

As you know, people depend on water to live on. They should be involved in finding a solution to this problem. I think, certain counter measures need to be taken as soon as possible. To begin with, the governments of all countries are supposed to formulate rules and regulations to deal with the pollution problem. In addition, factories in towns and cities must be prohibited from draining waste liquids into rivers before they are totally treated and purified. I feel if they violate relevant rules or laws, they should be fined heavily. Certainly, there are some other cures which are worth adopting.

As far as future prospect is concerned, I am sure that good results will be achieved in this respect. Rivers which used to be contaminated by industrial wastes will be cleaned and fish which could not live there a few years ago will be again. To conclude, it seems obvious that tomorrow will be better and brighter only if everyone does his part and tries hard to seek solutions for its control.

If any further comment on the issue is required, please don’t hesitate to write to me.

  Thanks.

  Yours sincerely

英語(yǔ)作文 篇7

Sport plays an important role in our daily life. Most of us begin our day with some kind of exercise or sport. Athletics is part of our university curriculum. Many students play on either the departmental or university sports team after a hard day of class.

Some people take sports far too seriously. Some people are only interested in how their favourite sports team does: they don't care much about their country or the rest of the world. These people often get into fights if their team loses.

When I have time for sports there is one that I like more than any other. I find bas ketball both a physical and a mental challenge. Runing, jumping, and shooting, are also enjoyable and healthful sports.
