My grandfather is an eighty-year-old man. He always complains about how fast things have changed, and he often says that life used to be better.
Families arent families the way they used to be. A lot of families have broken down. If husband and wife have problems with their marriage, they no longer stay together. And mothers used to stay at home and take care of their children, but now not anymore. Everyones working. No one has time to look after children at home.
And the cars! No one walks anymore. Everyone drives. We used to walk five miles to school every day, even in winter. But now we dont. And in school, the children dont have to think anymore. In math class, for example, we used to add, subtract(減), multiply(乘) and divide(除) in our heads. Kids dont use their heads anymore. Instead, they use calculators(計(jì)算器).

Energy shortage is a very serious problem in the world. Many people worry that energy resources on the earth will be exhausted if we use them in an unchecked way. This, most people agree, will cause serious problems and even crisis and jeopardize the survival of mankind .
On the one hand, most people agree that the problem can be solved in one way or another. One is to conserve and save our energy. Energy refers not only to coal, oil, or natural gases but also to goods, land and water, etc. Most countries have realized the wastefulness in their using of energy. They are trying to conserve energy. For example, some countries have a daylight saving system to use less electricity for lighting. Some cities have enforced water savers at public such as restrooms and bars. Some have enforced serious penalties on overuse of electricity, water, and farming land. By these means, people hope the drain on energy resources could be slowed down.
However, conservation alone cannot solve the problem. Another way, perhaps the best I think, is to develop new energy resources. Obviously, no matter how hard we try to save energy resources and how abundant they are, we will use them up sooner or later. I think there are many energy resources that we can develop and utilize. We don’t have to depend only on the current conventional energy resources. There are many other energy resources that we can develop such as nuclear power, waterpower and solar power. These resources, if developed, can completely replace the conventional energy and thus solve the problem of energy shortage.

with the process of human civilization, our life become more and more comfortable and convenience, it may be a good news to man but a bad news to animals. ehaust gases are emitted to the atmosphere, which react with each other and combine with water vapor ,and finally lead to form acid rain. acid rain fall into lake and kill the frogs and the fishes. time will tell you, although the recent acid rain may not directly harm to us, we would not escape from the doom if we ignore the alarm from animals. we are a part of the food chain. most of the human’s diets come from animals, which means the dangers that are threatened not only the animals but also the human. several serious diseases from animals have brought us into the hell in the beginning of the new century. for eample sars, the horrible disease has killed thousands of people which was attributed to eating the ill wild animals.
as the end of the food chain, we should spend money on preventing wild animals which is a confession from the evil consequence. i believe no one would neglect the alarm from animals if he recognized it, no one would be of parsimony with the money if it is used in preventing himself. development of society and preventing animals are our right and duty which also need us to balance.
