學(xué)英語作文 篇1
great days to be remembered seldom come, but small ones surround us daily.
i do not have a roman holiday, but i have a non smoking day instead.
today a nc-smoking sign easily hooks up my interesting and rewarding eperience on the world non smoking day a few years
as a high school student, i, together with my friends, volunteered on a campaign to discourage public smoking by persuacling people in public places to etinguish their cigarettes and put the cigarette ends into our metal boes. and we would in return give them a memorial sticker bearing patterns and words voicing the theme of the non smoking day.
the first step is never a fast step. after hunting for quite a while, we set our target on a young man who was enjoying his cigarette at a bus stop. embracing the philosophy of "nothing ventured, nothing gained", we summoned up all our courage, walked up and asked, "sir, would you please not smoke in public places?" "it is none of your business! why are you so busily engaged in such things? go and mind your own eams!" he was great, i believed, for he was able to drag on his cigarette while at the same time not giving his tongue a break. and i further found out that for this man, such words as "good for your health" or "good for common courtesy" had long lost their appeal. maybe such kind of situation should call for some other policy. i managed a smile, blended with sweet words and tried to dilute his resistance. and when we put the sticker on his clothes, he was lingering over the joy of having done us "a big favor."
now you see, maybe flattery should be vindicated, for to please is a great step toward persuading and a smile is a curve that sets everything straight.
our work ran smoothly when things began easy to handle in the afternoon. but don't worry. troubles are just around the corner. the second hard rock we met was a middle aged man who appeared to be more of a smoking addict than a smokingenthusiast. nothing seemed to be capable of etinguishing that cigarette. even the wind seemed to be powerless. we showed him the cigarettes filled metal bo. we spotlighted the hazards of public smoking. but all was in vain.
mark twain was right, habit is habit, not to be flung out of window by anyone, but to be coaed downstairs one step at a time. i then tried to peel the stubborn onion one layer at a time."ok, i know how you feel. but do you know how other people around you feel?" "you see that child? actually he smokes more of your cigarette than you do!" "in fact, you are etinguishing one cell of lung cancer when you etinguish your cigarette. you are etinguishing one cell of the disease of selfishness when you etinguish your cigarette." it is that maybe that constant drops do wear the stone. at last he etinguished our words by etinguishing his cigarette.
as the sinking sun tinted the horizon, we began to count the cigarette ends, savoring our little victories.
that day saw me toiling for 6 hours, inviting loads of troubles, collecting 57 cigarette-ends,savoring hundreds of potential second hand smokers and developing for myself some sense of responsibility toward society.
though it was a little depressing to realize that those people would naturally pick up their "tradition" just where they had temporarily laid it down, yet how far can we estimate our actions would travel! and besides that, i was rewarded in another day.that is, the eperience dawned upon me the significance of care and consideration for other people. since then, i have been as cooperative as possible whenever i am asked to improve my public behavior and i am always ready to get involved in such volunteer work.
in a sense, the highest reward for ones toil is not what they get from it but what they become by it.

Just as the saying goes: life is not all roses, all of use will need someone else’ s help to deal with problems that we may encounter in our life. Here comes the question: whom will you turn to for help? Some say they will ask their classmates or friends for help, because they are peers, thus they can understand each other easily.

However, others have different choices when in trouble. They are inclined to tell their teachers and parents the difficulties they are faced with. In their opinion, teachers and parents, who are much older than them, can give them a hand with their rich experience.

As for me, close friends are always the people who come to my mind firstly when I am intrigued by something that can not be solved by myself. If we can not figure out a solution by our joint effort, I will go to my teachers or parents for help. With their suggestions or instructions, I can finally find the best way to cope with my troubles.

學(xué)英語作文 篇3
from the window of my room, i could see a tall cotton-rose hibiscus. in spring, when green foliage was half hidden by mist, the tree looked very enchanting dotted with red blossom. this inspiring neighbor of mine often set my mind working. i gradually regarded it as my best friend.
nevertheless, when i opened the window one morning, to my amazement, the tree was almost bare beyond recognition as a result of the storm ravages the night before. struck by the plight, i was seized with a sadness at the thought all the blossom is doomed to fall. i could not help sighing with emotion: the course of life never runs smooth, for there are so many ups and downs, twists and turns. the vicissitudes of my life saw my beloved friends parting one after another. isn’t it similar to the tree shedding its flowers in the wind?
this event faded from my memory as time went by. one day after i came home from the countryside, i found the room stuffy and casually opened the window. something outside caught my eye and dazzled me. it was a plum tree all scarlet with blossom set off beautifully by the sunset. the surprise discovery overwhelmed me with pleasure. i wondered why i had no idea of some unyielding life sprouting over the fallen petals when i was grieving for the hibiscus.
when the last withered petal dropped, all the joyful admiration for the hibiscus sank into oblivion as if nothing was left, until the landscape was again ablaze with the red plum blossom to remind people of life’s alternation and continuance. can’t it be said that life is actually a symphony, a harmonious

bathed in so many worthy books, every one is faced with the option of reading method. some think that we should read etensively. it is their conviction that, reading etensively could easily enlarge knowledge, widen interests and enrich lives. on the other hand, with the sharp increase in information today, we are not allowed to read word by word. it seems an impossible mission to accomplish digesting carefully every material. therefore, what we need nowadays is to read etensively.
however, some people, on the contrary, hold the opposite point of view. in their eyes, we benefit much more from reading intensively. only by following every word are we able to comprehend the hidden meanings. besides, without intensive reading, we are likely to miss a good many wonderful epressions, thoughtful words and even truths. thus, they suggest chewing a book mouth by mouth rather than simply swallowing it at a time.
as far as i am concerned, we ought to learn to read etensively as well as intensively. it is not often possible, to read in merely one way. instead of trying to read every line and word in newspapers and magazine, wed better summarize the main idea. and when it comes to literature, art, science articles and others like these; it is wise to read them intensively.

學(xué)英語作文 篇10
honesty - you and me in the side
as an ancient saying goes: "the letter true in word and resolute in deed." honesty is our first and foremost a man of principle. faith, do not have as vigorous as a hero, it is on my side you, in the campus, in the classroom, in every corner of life, or even just a word, good faith or not, will be able to reflect your personality and quality .
students, you still remember the "crying wolf" fable of the story? a sheep of the children to lie because, ultimately, his flock of sheep are to be eaten by a wolf, and this is not the cost ofintegrity.
go back to real life, just as we have a certain class of students, his academic performance is very good, work can not be handed over on time. every time english teacher miss wei him to work, he did not pay, and each must pay to ensure that the next time. after a few may be, he still does not jiaozuo ye, teachers began to hate him. it does not matter if poor academic performance, but the students that even the most basic of teachers do not have the credibility, he is not a credit.
speaking of faith, i can proudly say i am a good-looking co-exist with integrity. i remember on one occasion, i look for neighbors to play yu shi-kai, she said, she came to me in the afternoon, shi jia yu agreed. but who would have thought to go home, my mother would take me on waipo jia. i am very contradictory: if i were to play waipo jia, shi-jia-yu, i would say bad faith; if i were at home, such as shi jia-yu came to me, but the grandmother did not have a good time to see me, she will definitely want to i ...... finally, i came up with a way to the best of both worlds, that is, i waipo jia noon to eat, and then in the afternoon and then go play yu shi-kai. so i waipo jia after dinner, they go home fast, just to catch up with a knock-yu shi-kai my house door. i have successfully complied with integrity.
honesty, for us, how important it is to lose it, it means a loss of dignity, loss of the basic principles of life; it has been, it would be tantamount to win a successful life.
friends: good faith to comply with it! do not let your personality jianshang a stain!
