　　Dear Sir or Madam: I take great pleasure in recommending Ren Ren, one of my favorite students, for admission into your distinguished graduate program.

　　Mr.Ren was admitted in 1986 at 14 years of age into the SPECIAL CLASS for the GIFTED YOUTHS, my university s unique program that caters to the intellectual needs of unusually talented Chinese youngsters.

　　It was a rare privilege he earned with his nearly impeccable academic performance through the years of his elementary and secondary school.

　　He impressed me almost as he entered into my university, a major cradle of china s scientific and technological talents.

　　At the time, members of the Gifted Class all had to spend half a month studying by themselves the principles of calculus and then take an exam so that we could evaluate their self-study capability.

　　Mr.Ren scored the highest grade in that exam. He also exhibited a keenly whetted mind during class discussions.

　　To my regret at the time, his English was not as good as his mathematics or physics.

　　But I noticed he made a point of working especially hard in improving his English during his five undergraduate years with us.

　　By now, he seems to be at least as proficient in English as most of his former classmates in the Gifted Class.

　　In my experience with Mr. Ren, I was impressed with not only his extraordinary intelligence but also his ambitions and persistence.

　　I am sure that Mr. Ren will be an outstanding student in any doctoral program that he may care to enroll in.

　　So I would like to support him firmly in his quest recommendation into account when considering his application.

　　I would greatly appreciate it you decide to accept him as he wishes.

　　一、你的作業(yè)評語，學(xué)生看得懂嗎？

　　評語是寫給學(xué)生看的，所以一方面評語要使用學(xué)生能看得懂的英語來寫，所使用的詞匯和語法不能過高或過低于學(xué)生的現(xiàn)有水平，要切合學(xué)生的實際水平，符合學(xué)生的個性心理發(fā)展需要;另一方面要做到循序漸進，由易到難，能夠起到“跳一跳，摘到桃子”的作用，也就是說學(xué)生通過上下文的猜測或借助于詞典就能理解。

　　例如：

　　Its very clever of you to do so.

　　Its nice of you to write this way.

　　Im sure you can do your work better next time.

　　Youve done a good job.

　　You are doing wonderfully!

　　You can do better now than you did before.

　　二、你的作業(yè)評語會涉及當(dāng)時所學(xué)的知識點嗎？

　　語言的學(xué)習(xí)在于運用，所以教師在寫評語時應(yīng)運用所學(xué)的`知識，以使學(xué)生能加強理解和記憶。

　　例如：

　　You have improved a lot.I am proud of you.

　　Whatgood work!You are the pride of our class.

　　Work harder,and you will make more progress.

　　The harder you work,the sooner you will improve.

　　Come on!I am sure you will catch up soon.

　　利用所學(xué)過的短語、句型和時態(tài)給學(xué)生寫評語就能取得很好效果，可以幫助學(xué)生鞏固和運用語言。

　　三、學(xué)生有被尊重、被表揚、被認可的需要。

　　在寫作業(yè)時，希望得到教師的表揚和鼓勵，這是學(xué)生精神上的需要。

　　如果精神上的需要長久得不到滿足，他們就會產(chǎn)生消極的思想。

　　教師針對不同的學(xué)生及其作業(yè)，在不同場合所作的評語可激發(fā)學(xué)生的學(xué)習(xí)熱情，讓優(yōu)等生更上一層樓，使中等生改正缺點、發(fā)揚優(yōu)點，使暫時落后的學(xué)生能克服畏懼心理，樹立信心。

　　所以對優(yōu)等生的作業(yè)表揚中要有指正，教師可通過評語向他們提出更高要求。

　　例如：

　　Excellent.You havent made any mistakes,but do try to make yourhandwriting neater.

　　對中等生的作業(yè)要慎重評價，在評語中要多督促。

　　例如：

　　You had better be more careful!Pay more attention to the tenses.

　　except for a few spelling mis- takes.

　　Keep it up.Remember that little by little one goes far.

　　對于差生的作業(yè)要多點激勵，溫和地指出錯誤的同時，也要指出他的優(yōu)點以資鼓勵。

　　評語言辭懇切，切中要害；或熱情鼓勵、或委婉告誡……通過評語，教師盡可把祝福、問候、關(guān)切、激勵、真誠、信任之情化作甘甜的泉水，去滋潤學(xué)生的心田，引起師生教與學(xué)的共鳴，達到教與學(xué)兩者的和諧與統(tǒng)一。

　　例如在節(jié)假日或某學(xué)生生日前，教師可以給予學(xué)生一些祝愿語：

　　Merry Christmas!/Happy New Year!/Enjoy yourself in the coming holidays!/Happybirthday1/Many happy returns!

　　又如某個學(xué)生因為生病缺課作業(yè)完成得很糟糕，教師就要說一些安慰的話：

　　Lingling,you have made a few mistakes in your work.I know that isbecause you were absent...I think it is only natural.Dont lose heart.I amready to help you.

　　再如某個學(xué)生因為考試不及格失去信心，教師就要說一些激勵的話：

　　Iam sorry to hear that you didnt pass the exam.I hope you are not toodisappointed.I want to cheer you up with the saying"Failure is the motherof success".I nope to see much improvement in your future studies.

　　五、作業(yè)評語形式要豐富多彩

　　作業(yè)評語不僅僅是對作業(yè)本身進行評價，也可以包括學(xué)習(xí)和生活的各個方面，它的語言形式更是豐富多彩，千變?nèi)f化，既可以是一個詞或一個短語，也可以是一句話、一個段落或一則格言。

　　例如：

　　A、一個詞：

　　Great!/Perfect!/Good!/Wonderful!/Correct!/Excellent!

　　B、短語：

　　Well done!/Neat and tidy!

　　C、句型：

　　Thats OK!

　　What a good job you have done!

　　Now you can do better than before.
